“It’s the first of its kind in the regional press,” gushes Bristol 24/7 as they appoint a ‘Climate and Sustainability Editor’. This new post is part-funded by a grant from, er, Nat West Bank who get to put their name all over any climate and sustainability articles in the online rag.
Paul Edwards, chair of NatWest’s South-West board explains with a straight face, “Tackling climate change is one of the biggest challenges of our time and the urgency for action has never been greater than now. As one of the UK’s biggest banks and the largest lender to business, we have both the ability and the responsibility to take a leading role in that fight.”
Can anyone confirm if this is the same Nat West bank that has lent almost £3billion to the North Sea oil industry since the Paris Agreement in 2015?
The Reverend talking his shite to a bored audience
The Reverend’s bizarro press conferences making national headlines raises questions about the state of our local press. The Reverend boasted about his “open press conferences” to the Mayor’s Migration Council website as recently as May: “my motto is: ´ask me anything,” he chirped with a straight face.
Not quite. It’s since emerged that Local Democracy Reporters at the Post could not attend these ‘open’ press conferences “by agreement” with whatever moron was running our local newspaper at the time.
Middle class community rag, The Bristol Cable, then waded in, explaining that they’d never been allowed to attend the ‘open press conferences’ since they began two years ago. Although, for some reason, they didn’t tell anyone or consider their ban newsworthy.
It gets worse. Bristol 24/7 hackette, Ellie “Copy Typist” Pipe, attended the press conference on the 8 June. She watched Rees’s dreadful council tax funded PR Saskia “Hindley” Konynenburg attempt to bully newbie Local Democracy Reporter Alex Seabrook on camera for asking the Reverend a mild question about his pointless climate change lecture trip to Vancouver. And Ms Pipe didn’t notice anything worth reporting!
The story finally came to light two weeks later when citizen journalist Jo “Vexatious” Booth, saw the blatant act of bullying on Youtube and posted the clip to Twitter. Cue viral story and the Reverend and Koynenburg making national headlines for their bullying antics.
Bristol journalists really need to get their shit together and stop allowing themselves to be easy pushovers for the Reverend and his PR team.
How many stories have these idiots allowed to be buried over the last six years?
A recent article in mini roundabout Bristol 24/7 about ‘engineer’ Paul Lloyd, now apparently relaunching himself as a ‘social media influencer’ with the help of the self-styled ‘independent’ media outlet, caught the attention of one of our readers.
Mr Lloyd is probably best known in Bristol as the former boss of the Bristol office of Camelot Property Management, who encountered a few legal problems a few years back. Indeed, under cross examination in court, ‘engineer’ and ‘social media influencer’ Paul Lloyd proved himself something of a thick, fat, ignorant retard of the highest order.
However, should we really be surprised that a media outlet owned by landlords, small local business and various petite-bourgeoise interests is keen to rehabilitate the reputation of the type of boss class liar and bully these people love to favour and promote?
Here’s a comment our reader left below the 24/7 article that was immediately removed without explanation. A letter to the editor has also been ignored – so far.
What a bunch of tossers!
There’s a few problems with this article in terms of truth and honesty…
For starters, Paul Lloyd is NOT an engineer. He is a disgraced former property manager for ‘Camelot Property Management’. He was sacked for gross misconduct, including illegal and abusive treatment towards residents.
I lived at a property Paul managed in Broomhill. He was the manager of the Bristol office. I was part of a group of residents who took him to court in March 2017.
I’m surprised the writer didn’t do a basic fact check. It was a high profile court case, covered extensively by the Bristol Post, The Bristolian, BBC local news and Radio 4’s ‘The Today Programme’. You only have to do a basic internet search of ‘Paul Lloyd’ to discover what he did.
We went months without any hot water or heating and people were getting electric shocks from the shower. Paul sent us a threatening email saying we would face immediate evicted if we dared complain to the Environmental Heath Department or the Council.
Paul Lloyd was a bully who made our lives a misery. He seemed to target vulnerable young women most of all. He tried to force a young woman to move out by telling her she would be ‘ripped apart by bailiffs dogs’ and ‘have all her belongings tossed into the street’ if she didn’t move out before her notice period ended.
He illegally evicted a 22 year old women from a property in Speedwell. A group of men forced their way into her bedroom at 10 o’clock at night and physically threw her onto the street in her night dress. She suffered from a chronic health condition, and they wouldn’t even let her go to the kitchen to get her medication out of the fridge.
He would often perform unannounced room inspections late at night (without the legally required 24 hours notice). Sometimes we would come back from the shower to find one of his employees going through our stuff. They would repeatedly break-in to the room of a young woman I lived with at Broomhill (still to this day I don’t understand why they kept picking on her). She would come home from work to find her door smashed open and all her belongings strewn about the room. I remember one night after this had happened for the third time, she was in floods of tears, and it took about 2 hours to calm her down. She said it was making her feel extremely low and she was having suicidal thoughts.
He was so arrogant and narcissistic, he thought he could get away with his abusive behaviour. But he got found out. Eventually all of this got back to the Camelot head office – and he was sacked. In this article he says he’s ‘taking some time out’. This implies he left voluntarily. That is not true.
Paul Lloyd says he has mental health problems, so we should all feel sorry for him. But what about the mental health of the people he victimised? We suffered domestic abuse at the hands of Paul Lloyd. Some people were diagnosed with PTSD and are still getting treatment today. He was like a lurking threat – always there. He acted like our legal rights didn’t exist, and the UK housing laws simply didn’t apply to him.
This article is a cover up. It is fake news designed to re-write history and cleanse Paul Lloyd’s rotten reputation, so that he can make money as a ”social influencer’. I find it sickening that he’s using ‘Mind’ – a mental health charity, to absolve himself, when in reality he wrecked the mental health of literally dozens of people.
You can see from the way he’s tried to cover up his past that he holds no remorse or regret for the people he wronged. He also shows no concern or respect for the journalist Martin Booth, whose professional integrity is put at risk with being associated with these lies.
The Reverend rushed to the airwaves and into print within days of the Nazi Post revealing last month, with the help of four whistleblowers, that his council had miserably failed to take any action over 70 INSTANCES OF RACISM among their workforce over the last ten years.
The Reverend’s first port of call was a soft interview with Ellie “Copy Typist” Pipe, roving reporter for Venue-lite website and mag, Bristol 24/7. The Reverend’s crazed mission to EXPLAIN THE INEXPLICABLE appeared on the 24/7 website on Friday 22 February.
The first target from the failed journalist and failing mayor was successful journalism. “There is a massive challenge for the journalistic class in the city as well,” bleated the Reverend, taking aim at those who had recorded, for the public, his latest embarrassing ORGANISATIONAL FAILURE.
The Vicar went on to claim the press were “sensationalising” the issue as the four cases reported in the Post “were being addressed” by his senior bosses. Sidestepping the fact that the whistleblowers had gone to the Post because their cases remained UNADDRESSED while the perpetrators and the senior bosses protecting them remained UNCHALLENGED.
“We, as a leadership, have always taken race and racism very seriously,” Rees breezily assured 24/7 readers. “We have put in place a whole raft of measures to tackle it”. And what measures would they be? Er, we don’t know because the Reverend didn’t say and Copy Typist Pipe DIDN’T BOTHER TO ASK. So that’s all right, then.
The Reverend immediately followed this highly DEFENSIVE INTERVIEW with an appearance among friends at community radio station, Ujima where he was joined by a cheerleader from the local race relations industry, Sado Jirde of the Black South West Network.
Together, the pair spent an hour patronising listeners by batting about long-winded undergraduate seminar observations about race with little reference to the Reverend’s working class black staff experiencing THE SHARP END OF RACISM right here, right now in Bristol.
It’s all ever so “complex and systemic” listeners were assured as the pair ASSERTED that due to the way racism was “reproduced and remodelled in institutions” it had to be “contextualised”.
Was this because the context of black working class people having their experience of racism BELITTLED AND IGNORED by middle class public sector bosses with large mortgages to service and quiet lives to live was a little too raw and direct for them?
Further highlights at Ujima included Rees whining that he couldn’t be expected to resolve 400 years of racism. Or, it seems, even four straightforward issues of RACISM within his own organisation raised that week by WHISTLEBLOWERS in the press.
The Reverend also went right off the deep end at the Nazi Post. “We all knew about it anyway”; they were “behind the conversation” on race; they were “role playing at being investigative journalists”; they had a “shallow understanding”; they were using “shock terminology” based on “inaccuracies and embellishments” and the headlines “were a great splash but not true,” the Reverend variously BLUSTERED at listeners.
To polish off this hour of PARANOID WAFFLE and EMBITTERED DENIAL, the show’s presenter even chipped in telling listeners that “whistleblower” is the “wrong terminology”. So what is the correct terminology for what this little lot were up to then?
How about “another bloody hatchet job by council bosses and client media on working class whistleblowers”?
Hapless former Lib Dem Director of Place Making at the council and wannabe media mogul, MIKE “GORDON” BENNETT – owner of the George Ferguson fanzine Bristol 24/7 – has been refused an entry in Wikipedia because he’s not important enough!
The discussion on Wikipedia of why Gordon was refused an entry in the online encyclopedia makes especially interesting reading. “Lots of references to show notability,” it says here. “However they are either false, dead or do not support the claims made. All articles possibly created by his staff,” it helpfully explains!
Oh dear. Perhaps Mayor Backscratch can sort out a local business award for Bennett’s ego instead?
