Criminal polluter: Oliver “Bankrupt” Latter, ho!, ho!

Oh dearie me, seems times are very hard indeed for Oliver Latter’s criminal polluting waste firm, BOOMECO. For it seems the Avonmouth recycling firm that packages up waste and exports it to Sweden to be incinerated for a tasty fee from Bristol City Council is up for sale!

Meanwhile reports emerge that the firm procured by Mayor Rubbish just six months ago – after the snooty liar denied he intended to do any such thing – is on the verge of BANKRUPTCY. “There’s very little activity around their yard these days,” we’re assured.

Whether Latter will be able to offload his useless polluting firm that was fined £19k recently for infesting Avonmouth with flies and is also subject to a legal class action from 200 local residents over this issue is a moot point.

Our spies tell us that corporate giants BALFOUR BEATTY have already declined an offer to buy the firm and its expensive legal action. We also understand other Avonmouth firms, many with dubious clean air credentials themselves, are watching this class action unfold with increasing concern.

AVONMOUTH ASTROTURF

A pro-business, pro-polluter grassroots campaign called ‘AVONA’ appears to have mysteriously sprung up in Avonmouth.

The ‘ASTROTURFING’ campaign (known as such because of its fake grassroots) appears to be very well funded indeed through a mystery slush fund, apparently being handled by a local business-friendly resident, Ian Smith with the help of a local church!

Smith has already set up a cheesy branded ‘Avona’ website registered in his name and he’s helped create and distribute 4,000 USELESS GLOSSY QUESTIONAIRES to residents. These questionaires – complete with paid reply envelopes – must have cost a fair few quid and it isn’t clear where Smith got the cash from.

Not least because neither ‘Avona’ nor any of the other names he uses for his “COMMUNITY ORGANISATION” like ‘Avonmouth Projects’ or ‘Avonmouth Village’ have formal constitutions, memberships or open accounts we can have a look at.

A handy means, then, of handling cash from UNDISCLOSED SOURCES who might want to avoid the scrutiny of any successful anti-pollution campaigners in Avonmouth. Especially campaigners who have been hitting business hard where it hurts – in the wallet.

As the Bristolian has already reported, Smith received £1,000 into his personal bank account from bust criminal waste polluters Boomeco just before last Christmas to fund seasonal festivities for the community in Avonmouth. This money has subsequently DISAPPEARED without explanation after many residents demanded it was returned to the polluters.

Smith also recently launched an ATTACK in the The Nazi Post on the organisers of a, potentially, multi-million pound legal class action against the local criminal polluters, Boomeco responsible for 2014’s fly plague. He described the trio as ‘VILE’ and claimed no one in the village supported them.

An unlikely claim as 200 residents have signed-up to SUE THE ARSE OFF Boomeco and its boss Oliver Latter. Smith, meanwhile, can claim the support of, er, Boomeco plus the company’s chief supporter and supplier of public money, Mayor Poison and some RETARDED VICAR prepared to put mysterious cash handouts through his church accounts to help out local businesses keen to fight local campaigners.

Smith is also reputed to have requested cash for a leaflet/questionaire from George Ferguson when he attended a small INVITATION-ONLY community meeting with Mayor Bent-as-Fuck in Avonmouth on 25 June. A PRIVATE MEETING organised through the supposedly public and city council-run Neighbourhood Partnership.

Quite why Bristol City Council would consider handing money to an individual POSING as a community organisation without working through the agreed, open and accountable Neighbourhood Partnership grants process is not at all clear.

Neither is it clear why Avonmouth’s Neighbourhood Partnership boss and city council employee, Keith “Lazy Boy” Houghton, has been offering support and encouragement to Smith, a FRIEND OF LOCAL POLLUTERS, while marginalising the views of, at least, 200 RESIDENTS involved in a wildy successful legal action against er, LOCAL POLLUTERS!

Rest assured the Bristolian will be keeping a close eye on these dodgy dealings …

FLY SWOT SWOTTED

The hugely entertaining ‘FLY’ protest by activists in Avonmouth at their Make Sunday Special event on September 13 managed to enrage someone other than lying MAYOR THINSKIN, the object of the protest.

A bizarre report of the protest cobbled together by the Nazi Post from film footage nicked off the internet even reported the mayor apparently hallucinating as he claimed “THE PROTESTER HAD FOLLOWED HIM AROUND WITH A PIG’S HEAD“.

Most people found the sight of this protestor dressed as a fly, with no pig’s head in sight, a cause of hilarity as he followed Mayor Boomeco around his UNINSPIRED EVENT.

However, one resident took a dimmer view of the mayor being harangued about everything from why his DAUGHTER’S CRAP CHARITY was getting so much cash off his council to the OPEN CORRUPTION in his environmental health department.

Appearing under the Post’s largely fictitious story of the protest came a comment by ‘FLY SWOT‘. He claimed the protestors “Happen to be bigger pests in the community than the flies”! He also called them “a band of three vile people” and accused them of “continually victimis[ing] individuals for trying to make positive changes in the area”.

Coincidentally, the same three people happen to be leading a class legal action involving over 200 residents against the criminal polluting firm Boomeco who created a fly infestation in Avonmouth in 2014.

And unfortunately for ‘Fly Swot’, who’s possibly not the sharpest knife in the drawer, his Nazi Post user account reveals his real name is IAN SMITH.

Surely this is not the same Ian Smith of Avonmouth who runs the unicorporated association, ‘Project Avonmouth’. And surely this isn’t the same Ian Smith who received £1,000 from the criminal polluters Boomeco into his PRIVATE BANK ACCOUNT last year  for the use of the community, which has now DISAPPEARED without any explanation from Smith?

Indeed, it is one and the same Ian Smith. Perhaps someone as equally community-minded as Mr Smith should contact the coppers and get them to ask him what he’s done with his community’s money?

GEORGE FERGUSON: THE LIE

Here’s George Ferguson on 7 June 2014, just days after removing papers from his Mayor’s Forward Plan proposing to award a large contract to Avonmouth’s green industry polluters, BOOMECO.

“As far as I know we’re not giving any waste contracts to Boomeco.”

18 August 2014: lo and behold! Boomeco is given a new waste contract by Bristol City Council.

GEORGE FERGUSON: “A LIAR AND A CONMAN”

Boomeco cab paper (pulled)

Cabinet paper from George Ferguson’s ‘Forward Plan’ pulled from the council’s website just days before Ferguson claimed to have “no knowledge” of any plans to award polluters Boomeco any contracts.

By Stephen Norman

Today I had the opportunity to speak with George Ferguson live on a BBC Radio Bristol phone-in.

Once again I see that he is off on a jolly boys self-promotion tour. This time to Bordeaux at the expense, I assume, of the tax payer. During the course of this phone-in he was asked about the Avonmouth group legal action.

He stated it was nothing to do with him and there was only “a few people” involved. When challenged on this statement and how he had come to this conclusion, Ferguson called me “a loudmouth” and then rattled off a few names of Avonmouth residents who he believes are involved in the Avonmouth group action.

So not only is George a narcissistic nutcase but it would appear he is some sort of mystic who can see the future, which in George’s world seems to be fuck knows what.

George then went on to claim, “Only a few weeks ago I was in Avonmouth speaking with the Avonmouth Community Association and they are happy with the things that are being done.”

“But who the hell are Avonmouth Community Association? Nobody’s ever heard of them. There’s an organisation – Avonmouth Community Centre Association – with only THREE trustees that runs a community centre. Why are their views suddenly important?

I will now state again what I said to George Ferguson on the radio: YOU ARE A LIAR AND YOU SHOULD FIND A TYPEWRITER AND WRITE YOUR RESIGNATION.

I’m also happy to add to this statement:  you are not only a LIAR but nothing more than a cheap CON MAN.

When Ferguson opened the wind farm in Avonmouth with his little gang of fake green hangers-on, he is on video tape stating that he had no knowledge of any contracts with the serial polluter BOOMECO and that the buck stops with him.

There were witnesses present when he made this statement. Six weeks after the statement, Boomeco were awarded a six figure contract.

George Ferguson I will say it again:

YOU ARE A LIAR. YOU HAVE LIED TO THE RESIDENTS OF AVONMOUTH AND YOU HAVE LIED TO THE CITIZENS OF BRISTOL AND YOU WERE LYING ON BBC RADIO TODAY.

I also extend to you, personally, the opportunity to SUE ME if this is not the case. You are a man with NO HONOUR and NO SHAME.  Unlike you I AM PREPARED TO STAND BY WHAT I HAVE SAID.

BOOM! AVONMOUTH RISING: LEGAL CLASS ACTION TO SINK EUROPEAN GREEN CAPITALISTS?

avonmouth sunrise

Residents in Avonmouth, sick of FEEBLE mayors, FAKE Green cabinet members, BENT council managers, BLIND regulators, GREEDY businessmen, UNACCOUNTABLE port owners, THICK councillors, ABSENT MPs, POINTLESS partnership meetings and the general PANOPOLY OF TOSS they’ve been subjected to while POLLUTING GREEN INDUSTRY wrecks their lives, homes and community are launching a legal CLASS ACTION due to the plague of flies this summer.

The BRISTOLIAN can confirm from its sources that at 11.30am this morning a number of Avonmouth residents obtained legal representation to investigate the possibility of bringing a group action to seek redress for the fly infestation which occurred over the summer months in Avonmouth and surrounding areas.

The BRISTOLIAN‘s source says, “this group action has the potential to grow in to a very large number of litigants and no stone will be left unturned in achieving redress.”

The BRISTOLIAN‘s also been told that “many, many thousands” of people will be able join this action, obtain financial redress and strike a blow for the community of Avonmouth.

A blow that the Mayor, the Cabinet, councillors, MPs, the local authority, regulators and the Bristol Port Company have refused to strike so they can protect VESTED INTERESTS and PROFITS for the few.

So where does this leave the GREEN CAPITAL OF EUROPE? A major legal action is now taking place against one of them for polluting one of their own communities!

An action started on the day it was revealed that useless Green Capital boss KRIS DONALDSON “DUCK” has been SACKED and PAID OFF with OUR public money while Mayor “UNCLE” GEORGE squeaks that as a Green Capital board member he has no knowledge of the amount of money DOLED OUT to Donaldson for failing.

We’ve had the farce; now let’s see the court room drama …

ON THE MARCH

Pissed off Avonmouth residents, who have been subjected  dangerous pollution and public health hazards from the port, have started a campaign of direct action against BRISTOL PORT COMPANY.

Meanwhile the city’s business, political and bureaucratic elites have closed ranks around the MERCHANT VENTURER owned big business to suppress the truth about the port’s activities.

Residents have been complaining for years now about dust from the port, some of which is potentially carcinogenic wood dust from biomass stored on the dock and some is metal dust from the SIMS METAL MANAGEMENT PLANT containing LEAD, CADMIUM and ARSENIC.

More recently, over the last month or so, residents have been subjected to a plague of flies that has been traced to waste being exported by local company BOOMECO. The company’s boss OLIVER ‘TWATTER’ LATTER has verbally admitted responsibility for the infestation but is refusing to pay residents the small cost of fumigating their homes.

Meanwhile the two regulatory bodies, THE ENVIRONMENT AGENCY for the Port and the CITY COUNCIL for public health matters relating to its residents are passing the buck to each other and effectively washing their hands of the matter.

avonmouth protest

It also has come to light in recent weeks that the city council has secretly authorized the storage in the open air of ‘bottom ash’ on land they own at the port just a few hundred metres from people’s homes. This ash is what’s left after waste is incinerated and residents say, “literally anything could be in this waste, including TOXIC AND RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL from stuff like hospital waste. It’s obviously a danger to public health so near to our homes”.

Residents held their first demo at the port on Friday 30 May and they promise they’ll be going “on tour” throughout the summer until the authorities start doing their job and looking after them rather than poisoning them.

A resident says, “the time for tea and biscuits with these people is over. Direct action has moved us more forward in one week rather than the three years we have been trying to resolve things.

“I’m up for embarrassing the politicians and Councillors and giving glorious George and cuddly Augustus a bloody nose every time they appear spouting their false ‘green’ agenda.”

DIRECT ACTION GETS RESULTS FOR FLY-INFESTED AVONMOUTH RESIDENTS!

Looks like Mayor Fergo and his sidekick Green Gusset have caved in to demands by angry locals in Avonmouth that Bristol City Council step up and resolve the FLY INFESTATION caused by incompetent biomass profiteers BoomEco – with fumigation and insecticides being made available to those affected from tomorrow.

To book your visit from the pest control crew or to pick up some fly spray/paper, just pop in to the library, or contact your local councillor – that’s Wayne Harvey (07769 131 094) and Matthew Melias.

So well done on everyone up there dockside for fighting the good fight – and keep up the pressure!

In the meantime, here’s a video of last weekend’s protest…

FLIES ON TOAST

After Friday’s demonstration and the on-going PLAGUE OF FLIES, there was a packed out Avonmouth Neighbourhood Forum last night. The regular meeting is known to locals as the ‘dust forum’, because it usually involves discussing shitty clouds of some description blowing over the Docks boundaries into Avonmouth Village and the surrounding areas.

Assistant Mayor Gus Hoyt was handed down the task to deal with these issues months ago by the Mayor on behalf of the City Council, but has since denied responsibility and failed to turn up. The Environment Agency were nowhere to be seen and many residents pointed out if they’re partly responsible why the fuck weren’t they invited?

Boomeco the company responsible for the fly infestation had their Managing Director Oliver ‘ever so sorry’ Latter there. Conservative MP Charlotte ‘Bacardi’ Leslie and two Tory councillors were there along with Sue Turner director of communications at the port.

The meeting began with Oliver Latter standing in front of the packed community centre looking like he’d SHAT HIMSELF, saying he was very sorry and he’s clearing up his mess as we speak. But the community were unrelenting in their questioning ‘WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ABOUT OUR SIDE OF THE FENCE?’  They also invited him to stay the night in one of their houses saying he could have ‘flies on toast for breakfast’. Latter he refused to take up any of the community’s suggestions of acts of goodwill, like distributing free fly spray or fly strips that residents have been forking out for. The company could easily afford this, but if they did, they’d be in a way accepting responsibility before the Environment Agency proceedings come to an end.

Charlotte Leslie tried her smarmy best to appear reasonable and also defuse the anger aimed at The Port Company and Boomeco. However one resident shouted from the back of the room ‘£28,000 quid’, the amount that the Port Company recently donated to Tory Leslie and she (illegally) failed to declare to Parliament. Another ‘cash for questions’ scandal in the making?

Sue Turner from the Port also received her share of the justified abuse after saying ‘we have a legally bound obligation to allow all Ships to dock’, but people heckled that ‘doesn’t mean they can dump unsafe crap in the open air’ in Avonmouth. Tory Councillor Wayne Harvey who works at the Port played confused and told everyone to ‘keep letting us know when we slip up’ to keep talking and emailing in, to which one resident asked ‘if they’d get paid part of his wages for doing part of his job for him?’

All of the speakers arrogance shone through by trying to tell residents that other incidents of pollution weren’t on the agenda and not relevant. But of course they are relevant because they’ve been through it all before with a million other companies in Avonmouth, and people are sick to the teeth. And as a speaker said this ‘couldn’t happen up Sneyd Park’; because Avonmouth isn’t rich it gets ignored over and over again.

These Scumbag companies that have operated out of the port over the years that have shat on Avonmouth, whilst making tons of money off of the people who work for them and profiting from the health problems caused, are pushing residents to the edge once more.

So in summary The Tories, The Port company and Boomeco played pass the blame, enjoying when residents were directing their anger at absentees the Environment Agency or Ferguson and Hoyt.

How Boomeco and the Port can stand there whilst residents talk emotively about their children getting pneumonia, respiratory problems and cooking in fly infested kitchens and give people nothing but the promise of another meeting is shameful. These new companies at the port are replacing old technologies with supposed new ‘green’ ones that are doing just as much harm to residents health as before and sticking ‘eco’ in your name isn’t going to cut it.

The community won’t accept just another meeting; there was talk of more demonstrations and direct action as the meeting was wrapping up. Watch this space

ANGRY AVONMOUTH RESIDENTS TAKE TO THE STREETS OVER BIOMASS FLY INFESTATION

Avonmouth fly protest

No flies on this kid! Protest by angry Avonmouth locals – against Boomeco, the biomass company which caused a plague of flies to descent on the village, and the authorities who have failed to sort it out – reaches Crowley Way.

Local residents in Avonmouth today said ‘enough is enough’ after the FAILURE of Bristol City Council, millionaire mayor George Ferguson, the Environment Agency and the Bristol Port Company to sort out the appalling fly infestation in the portside village – and marched on the offices of the biomass profiteers responsible, Boomeco.

After assembling at Avonmouth Park, around SIXTY ANGRY LOCALS have been on a walkabout around the town, periodically blocking roads to get their message across, as they head towards the offices of the controversial waste recycling company Boomeco.

The invasion of flies has been traced back to POOR PRACTICES AT BOOMECO, which bundles up and trades in rubbish – quaintly rebranded ‘biomass’ or ‘refuse derived fuel’ – which is then burnt to create electricity. Further fly infestations are expected if a planned new biomass power plant is built at Avonmouth docks.

Here’s a press release from the protesters:

Residents of Avonmouth are in the process of marching on the offices of the Bristol Port Company due to their their ongoing failure to deal with a recent fly infestation caused by biomass exporters Boomeco at their facility in Avonmouth.

Local elected representatives have failed to address and alleviate this problem and now Bristol Port Company want to lease a section of land to the Day Group for the storage of incinerator bottom ash less than 500 metres from residences in Avonmouth.

The campaign is led by recent independent candidate and seasoned campaigner Stephen Norman after numerous emails to the Mayor, the Port Company and Mr Oliver Latter of Boomeco have been ignored.

Residents have become frustrated at the lack action to stop such industry being attracted by the Port Company like the proposed building of a Biomass plant at the dock.

Mr Norman says the campaign will go ‘on tour’ at chosen strategic venues causing peaceful disruption until common sense prevails.

A leaflet from the Avonmouth Dust Forum also asks local residents affected by the plague of disease-spreading flies to contact as many authorities as possible in order to get this DANGEROUS HEALTH HAZARD sorted.
